This weekend, treat your family to a decadent Easter morning breakfast! Stuffed French Toast is a quick and easy breakfast that comes together in minutes and will make the whole family happy.
Ingredients
French Toast
- 8-10 pieces thick-cut French or sourdough bread
- 6-8 eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- Optional toppings: powdered sugar, Pure maple syrup
Maple-Cinnamon Filling
- 1 8-oz. package cream cheese, at room temperature
- 1/4 cup pyre maple syrup
- 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- Sliced bananas
Citrus-Cream Cheese Filling
- 1 8-oz. package cream cheese, at room temperature
- Zest of one lemon
- Zest of one orange
- 3-4 Tbsp. powdered sugar
- 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 2 Tbsp. orange juice
- Fresh or frozen (and softened) berries
Instructions
- Make the filling (you can make both or pick your favorite!) by combining all ingredients in a medium bowl and mixing until incorporated.
- Preheat a griddle.
- Make the French Toast. Combine eggs, milk, cinnamon and vanilla in a large bowl or dish and mix well. Set bread in egg mixture, flip over and soak until bread is completely covered with egg mixture.
- Grease the griddle, then set the bread on griddle to cook. Cook until egg mixture is set, then flip and cook the other side until set and golden brown. Remove from griddle.
- Repeat with all bread slices until egg mixture is used up.
- Stuff the French Toast. Put desired filling and toppings on one slice of bread and top with another slice. You can put it back on the griddle to heat, or if it’s still warm, enjoy immediately!
- Top with powdered sugar and syrup if desired.
