Jenny Mathews, contributing writer
Emily Gehring and Brianne Whittaker are two moms who helped to create 100 Cache Valley Women Who Care, a local group of women who gather once a quarter, and, through their combined efforts, donate thousands of dollars to local charities. It’s a simple concept. “Each of us can do a little, and when we unite and compound each person’s small contribution, we can do amazing things.”
The organization has no overhead and doesn’t accept a penny of the donations. At their quarterly meetings, the women nominate and vote on one charity to be the recipient of each member’s contribution for the quarter. The checks are written directly to that charity and lives are changed, for both the givers and the receivers.
